Donations
RMHC of Pittsburgh is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose name is licensed by McDonald's Corporation, but is not part of the corporation. Furthermore, since we accept families regardless of their ability to pay, and never charge more than $20 per night, the lodging revenue we receive accounts for only about 20% of the revenue needed to maintain the House. We therefore rely on support from the community - companies, foundations, and individuals - to keep serving families.
McDonald's franchisees and suppliers are major contributors of time and money on the local level. McDonald's customers contribute thousands of dollars each year by dropping change into donation canisters, supporting fundraisers and organizing other events throughout the community.
The need for fundraising goes well beyond McDonald's. Ronald McDonald House Charities receives strong support from individual and corporate donors who are the lifeblood of the organization, providing much-needed contributions, which are directed toward the Ronald McDonald House.
