Other Ways to Support the Ronald McDonald House

Are you looking to help the families of the Ronald McDonald House but are not sure how? Listed below are only a few ideas for you. We also welcome any new ideas that you may have.

Sponsor a Room at the House: Underwrite a family guest suite, playroom, kitchen or great room for a whole year. Your organization's name, logo and caring message will be displayed in the room. For further information on how you can sponsor a room please contact Amy DeWalt at 412.246.1108 or amy@rmhcpgh.org.

Celebrate and Give: For a birthday, retirement, anniversary, holiday party, or other group or company milestones ask your guests to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. Or, forgo the office party and donate the budget to the House. Contact Amy DeWalt at 412.246.1108 or amy@rmhcpgh.org.

Wish List: One easy way to help is to donate everyday household products from our       Wish List. The House uses everything your home does, except on a larger scale, since we have up to 60 families staying with us each night. Note: For the health and safety of our families, we can only accept new items. Thank you for your consideration. For more information, please call 412-246-1103 or email mindy@rmhcpgh.org.

Bring Bang to Your Buck at Work: Name the Ronald McDonald House in your Workplace Giving Program, United Way (384 agency code) or Combined Federal Campaign (35631 agency code). Ask your employer if it matches donations, giving more bang to your buck. To learn more, contact Amy DeWalt at 412.246.1108 or amy@rmhcpgh.org.

Design a Fundraiser: Organize a tournament or contest and designate the House as the recipient of the proceeds. For example: provide employees with incentives such as causal Friday if they donate. For further information on how you can design a fundraiser, please contact Amy DeWalt at 412.246.1108 or amy@rmhcpgh.org. To host a fundraiser, please complete the Fundraising Application Form

Lead a House Activity: The Ronald McDonald House welcomes people to come up with kid or adult friendly activities that can help family members relax and reduce their stress if only for an hour or two. We invite you to lead a group of house guests in activities such as: craft workshop, games, cookie baking, etc. We suggest you give us a call to gauge guests interests in the activity. For more information, please call Mindy Adleff at 412-246-1103 or email mindy@rmhcpgh.org.

Make Welcome Baskets: Get together with some friends and make small toiletries baskets for our families. Families are not prepared for a long stay when a medical emergency arises. Basic toiletries are the last things on their minds. Having these welcome baskets make our families feel cared for. If interested, please contact Mindy Adleff at 412.246.1103 or mindy@rmhcpgh.org.

Make a Gift of Stock: We have received very few stock gifts in the economic downturn. Here's hoping for better days! When the turnaround comes, the House has stock gifting instructions for you or your financial advisor to use. To make a gift of stock, please contact Amy DeWalt at 412.246.1108 or amy@rmhcpgh.org.

Pop Tab Collecting: Collect and donate aluminum pop tabs to the Ronald McDonald House. The donated pop tabs are taken to a local scrap metal yard where they are weighed and exchanged for cash. The pop tab program raises $3,000 a year for the families staying at the House. For more information, please download our Pop Tab Brochure or contact Lynn Ussack at 412-246-1104 or email lynn@rmhcpgh.org.
