Q. Who May Stay?
A. Families of pediatric patients under the age of 21 who are receiving medical care from a facility in the area.

Q. Are there geographic restrictions?
A. Families must have a permanent residence and live 40 miles or more from the Ronald McDonald House.

Q. How many guests can stay in a room?
A. The maximum number is 4. Each room provides a queen-sized bed and a sleeper sofa.

Q. How do I request a room?
A. The child’s social worker must contact Joanne Kehris, Family Services Director at the Ronald McDonald House to request a room for the date needed.

Q. Can I be placed on a “wait list” if a room is not available?
A. Yes, you will be placed on a “wait list” until a room becomes available. We do our best to accommodate all needs in a timely manner but rooms cannot be reserved prior to the date requested. The availability depends on the discharge of families currently residing at the Ronald McDonald House.

Q. Is there a cost to stay at the Ronald McDonald House?
A. Guests are asked to pay a nominal fee of $15 per night, but no family is ever turned away regardless of their ability to pay. Financial Aid is reviewed by management on an individual basis.

Q. When is check-in?
A. Check-in begins at 2:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registered guests have 24-hour access to the building. Registration is available on Saturday and Sunday. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. When registering on weekend, please call the Ronald McDonald House directly at 412-362-3400 for room availability.

Q. What do I need to bring with me?
A. Any personal items that you may need while away from home. You will have clean bed linens and towels provided when you check in. We also have an assortment of personal care items, paper products and various food items for you to use during your stay.

Q. Is parking available to families?
A. Parking is located in the Children’s Hospital Mid-Campus parking lot and coordinated through Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh only. The fee for families is $5 per day. You must obtain your parking card at the information desk at Children’s Hospital.
